General Superintendent

About Our Founder
Pastor W.F. Kumuyi
W.F. Kumuyi didn’t set out to build one of the largest churches in the world. He was a quiet math professor who simply loved the Bible—and loved helping others understand it.
In 1973, while teaching mathematics at the University of Lagos in Nigeria, a few students asked him to teach them the Scriptures. He agreed, and what started as a small Bible study in his apartment began to grow. People came hungry for truth, for holiness, for God—and they found it.
That little Bible study became Deeper Life Bible Church. By the 1980s, it had spread across Nigeria. By the 1990s, it had crossed continents. Today, there are thousands of Deeper Life churches across Africa, Europe, North America, and beyond. But the heart has never changed.
Pastor Kumuyi preaches the Bible simply, faithfully, and with conviction. He calls sin what it is. He lifts up Jesus as Savior and Healer. He believes in real holiness, real transformation, and real revival. And he lives what he preaches.
He’s not one for showmanship or titles. He’s known for his humility, quiet discipline, and deep love for God’s Word. His preaching draws in everyone from street vendors to scholars, all hungry for truth that speaks to life right now.
Born in 1941 into a devout Anglican home, Pastor Kumuyi became born again in 1964 after hearing a clear gospel message. Influenced by the writings of Wesley, Finney, and Spurgeon, he grew rapidly in faith and began teaching others. Since then, he’s spent more than five decades calling people to salvation, holiness, and heaven.
As the General Superintendent of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor Kumuyi continues to lead with the same passion that began in that small Bible study: preach Christ, win the lost, and strengthen the church—until Jesus returns.
